Well I still have not heard if I have the job in N.C.

I have other goodies and I'll put a new list in the file as I find

I don't want to but I have no choice my Family is my number one

Greetings,

I have a never used, new in the box Aztec model A470. It is double

action, has 5 or 6 different nozzles, and is encased in a wooden box.

There is also a video instruction tape included. Aztec is made by

Testors, and the A470 currently lists for around $199, but on line sell

for around $150. I'll let this one go for $99 plus shipping. I've had

it for a few years, but it is brand new. I don't need it because I no

longer spray.

I also have a used Badger Model 180-1 air compressor with

pressure regulator-gauge that I would sell for $85 plus shipping.

Thanks.

Pete,

First gut reaction is how else are you doing weathering? Is it something

you'd care to share with the rest of us? We are open to divergent techniques

to accomplish a common goal, the weathering of things.....

Second obvious question; why don't you no longer spray?

madmike3434,

I've gotten old and cranky these days and don't spend much time modeling

anymore. I spend a lot of time in front of either the computer or the

television. I've been modeling, in HO, since the late forties and have done a lot of

things and been a lot of places.

During this period of time I've learned a lot, done a lot on my own from

that larning, and taught a bunch of folks over the years as to how I did it in

case they might learn something from it. I've done clinics at local,

regional, and national conventions as a testament to all this. I'll be giving a

clinic on decaling this month at our Division meeting. I've also given clinics

on weathering, "Color Consciousness", scratch-building, hand-laying track,

plastic structure building tips, background painting, just to identify a few.

To offer pictures to the group would be superfluous in that there are many

fine examples of weathering already in the photo albums. Tell you what, I'll

upload a couple of pics of my layout to demonstrate the background painting

I've done on my layout. Hope that will satisfy you for the moment. Just

uploaded five pics to my photo album "Keevan's Pics". Note the painting was done

using good old wall paint, not artists' acrylics like some do. The pictures

are three years old for reference.

To accomplish adding pictures of models would mean that I have to go down to

the layout room or the hobby room, set up a shoot, take pictures with my

rather cheap camera, and then take the time and make the effort to upload them.

Perhaps some day when I get properly inspired.

Very nice background paintings Keevan. I am very impressed you did that

with "wall paint". I presume that was a latex paint. While I find the

models done by some on the list to be god and interesting, I am far more

impressed by people who build a model railroad with structures, scenery,

background paintings etc.

Stan,

On another Group that I belong to I described in some detail as to how and

why I did it that way. I graduated from college majoring in 'Art' but am

natuarally inquisitive as to 'how to do the same thing less expensively'. I know

the costs of artists' acrylics paints, and those using it do superb work

(AKA, Greg Gray, et. al.), but at a somewhat of a cost of doing so.

I learned way back in grade school how to work with Tempera paints (water

soluable and mixable). That is so close to the way you would use ordinary

'latex paint' or 'acrylic paints' (as it is known as these days) that I surmised

that I could use those learned techniques when using wall paint. I've spent

in the neighborhood of $100 for all the paint to cover about 80 x 4 foot of

wall behind my layout. That's nothing to sneeze at. Especially when it's

compared to what artists' acrylics would have cost otherwise.

Go to your local Home Despot, or whatever, and collect a bunch of paint

chips to take home and decide what it is you want to purchase for painting your

background. That's what I did. Got a bunch of quart-sized cans.

Have fun,,,,, like I have, Keevan

Actually Keevan, I have done a few simple tree only backdrops just over

and between my mountains with model trees in front of the painted ones.

I used craft paint acrylics - very cheap and I did not need much... but

we are off topic for this list.

In keeping with the list purpose I also use those craft paints in

painting and weathering my structures. Floquil has become very pricey

and I find I can control the water-based paints more easily. I rarely

use my airbrushes.

Lets see if you can produce what you say your doing , or in this case

I am selling the O scale version of the long out of production Master

Creations Railhead Saloon kit. This one is the silver edition with both

lights and a sound computer. As near as I can recall from ads the

sounds include piano playing and a bar brawl with gunshots. The sounds

and lights are computer controlled by the included special purpose

computer and can be sequenced to suit. The kit is laser cut. I

purchased this from MC (now BTS owned). I model in HO but had thought

of detailing this up with an interior to add to the lights and sounds

but not going to happen.

A photo of the HO version (same look) can be seen at this link

www.linkandpinhobbies.com/Graphics/MC_RAILHEAD.jpg

Price is $350 shipping included to continental US. Check or money

order.

If interested contact me off list.

I have a collection of Model Railroader magazines, 1955 to present, with about eight years missing...

They are in good to very good condition, especially considering their age. 1981 does not have covers for some reason.

I am just 8 miles west of Indianapolis.

I would like $180 dollars cash for more than 500 plus issues... the last decade alone cost more than that.

Due to the weight and volume involved, it would have to be picked up from me at the local Krogers, about a quarter mile south of the I-74 on SR 267 in Brownsburg.

If you are interested, please contact me... I need to pay some bills.

Thank you.

For what it's worth since they aren't worth very much. $180 is very unrealistic.Until 4 years ago I had a complete set - every issue starting with number 1.I advertised them for sale on e-bay and had absolutely NO bids.I advertised them on every model railroad list possible. No takers!I ended up throwing them in the trash!Someone might be willing to take them off your hands for nothing.Clark Womack

I too was among those who had complete collections but mine ONLY went back

to 1945.

I ended up sitting down and cutting them up with a razor blade.

I saved what I wanted. Saved the Thornburg locomotive articles for one

friend and the John Armstrong track planning articles for another friend.

The rest went into the dumpster.

Over time I sorted mine into 9 by 12 by 4 inch cardboard boxes labeled TRACK

PLANS, STRUCTURES, WEATHERING, LOGGING, MINING and so on.

I'm glad I did it as it makes it much more enjoyable to find a plan for a

building.

I did the same for my complete collections of RMC, Railraod Modeler, HO

Monthly and HO Trains.

But I got my monies worth of pleasure out of those old issues.

What I had the greatest success with was giving them to 4 "new to the hobby" and potential hobbyist friends and nephews. The feedback was they read every article, almost like i did when I first started the hobby way back when - and were hooked.

All of the above issues are punched for a

3 ring binder.

All are in very good condition except for the

Jan/Feb issues noted. I put these in a 3

ring binder which had a metal clip board on

the inside so the covers noted are scuffed

and one is worn through the cover as noted.

All come from a smoke free, animal free, dry

home with no musty smell on any of them.

I bought all of these issues new as they came out.

I have to liquidate them as I am preparing for a

move to the Lower 48.

In the late 1970's, Gary Nash and Mic Greenberg wrote two small books

about model railroad dioramas and how to "weather" scale models. Both

Nash and Greenberg were well known in the model railroad world for their

expertise and the two books became very popular for their content.

The books were entitled "Art of the Diorama" and "Scale Model Weathering".

Both books were in high demand because the information contained in them

was considered "cutting edge" at the time they were published. Today, their

techniques are relatively common. The books are now considered somewhat

a collector's item as they are rare and hard to find.

I have both of these books for sale. The books were purchased originally by

me and are in excellent condition. There are no markings, tears, rips or dog-

eared pages. The books are each 5." x 8." in size and one contains about

30 pages of material and the other has about 50 pages of information. There

are nearly 75 photos or illustrations in the two books. All of the photos are

black & white (grayscale). There is no color photography in either book.

I am asking $40 for each book with free shipping in the United States. I

would prefer to sell the two books as a set, so if someone wants both books,

I will take $75 for the set, again with free shipping in the US. Payment by

check or money order . your choice. E-mail me with your interest or inquiries.
