I've noticed that a few of my local channels which use translators to

rebroadcast their signal into outlying valleys are really pushing

people to buy digital converter boxes with analog pass-through

capability. They're saying that the outlying translators will NOT be

going digital right away on February 17th. I thought it was the law

that they had to completely switch over on that date. Didn't they all

get government assistance to purchase new equipment adequate for their

coverage area?

Low power stations were excepted for a couple of years, I'm not

entirely sure why. Possibly because some are not repeaters, but local

educational stations, which might not have the funds immediately to

switch.

Translators and LPTV stations are not affected by the February transition.

They can remain analog for the time being.
