Re: TEC-6 fan controller ??

I have a used TEC-6 coming my way soon but, it is missing the fan controller.

Does someone know if there is a 3rd-party unit that would work?

Do I need to to specifically get a TEC controller?

I suppose I could build my own if I knew connector type and voltage output.

I sent Yuri an email but haven't heard back yet.

Thanks,

Rob

This is something that Yuri should be able to supply, pretty standard

connection. But if you are going to build one yourself make one that

feeds directly from the mount power supply, that way you will save on

getting batteries for each session.

I believe the original fan controller for the TEC-6 is just a 9-volt battery in a small plastic enclosure, along with a cable & plug. At least I don't remember seeing anything else inside the plastic box when I opened mine. FYI, the battery seems to last quite a long time, at least several observing sessions.

I run mine off a regular 12v source and use a mono stereo plug. Yuri

addressed this in the past about operating range of 6 - 12+ volts for

the fan. I don't bother with the controller which is a 9 v battery

box by Celestron w/o the focuser buttons installed (was from their

old motofocus controller).

Rob,

It's the 3.5mm or 1/8" plug. I copied part of message #8928 which

Yuri responded to tip & voltage question.

Dear Wes, >the central tip is a (+), fan could be powered from 5-12v DC. Cable

RobDon't remember the size but center is +. I'll see if if I can find info in my papers. You'll really like the TEC6. Excellent performance in a small, light package.Wes
