Hi everyone

Just uploaded a sketch of all the planets in the solar system as seen

through a TEC140 from a suburban back yard. (Since pluto got demoted

ALL the planets are now in the reach of us smaller refractor guys!)

tech.ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/tec-scopes/photos/browse/28f4

I'm sure more detail can be seen by a person with eagle eyes on top

of a mountain, and I'm sure more "scientifically accurate" sketches

have been produced - but - I think this gives an idea of what Jo Soap

might reasonably expect to see from his back balcony in the burbs

under moderately reasonable skys.

I once saw a bunch of drawings of deep sky objects made with a 5"

achromat someone posted and I found it a really useful resource when

contemplating buying a refractor of this size, showing what might be

expected. Hope this might be the same?

All the best

Tim

Tim, well done with the drawings. Training your eye to see detail. Your

hand sees more than my eye.
