Nice that they gave everyone two weeks heads up.

But this is exactly the sort of thing that will throw everyone's margin usage into a spin.

I hope everyone was able to get to a safe place last week during the hard bounces.

Tyler how does this change affect the number of contracts you would sell on call and put side for 1M PM account?LawrenceOn Sep 1, 2015 5:14 PM, "Tyler Jewell tylerjewell@... [supertraderkarenstudy]" supertraderkarenstudy@yahoogroups.com> wrote:

Well, most of my funds are at ib. I am just testing tos, which so far has as many pros as cons. The interface is wonderful for browsing options but not really good at helping me execute trades especially where I may want to change my limit price rapidly. Also while I like having Greek summaries I do not like how tos limits how my option positions are displayed. In ib I can group and oranize my active positions to a view that is tailored for my calculations.

But so far seems that transaction costs are lower but harder to get better execution prices. The biggest benefit seems to be the huge heads up they give on margin. But I have never had a margin call so not sure if I need this.

But this sort of change will require me to reduce my call contract lot by 10 percent as I tune my lot size to have about 5 percent remaining margin of my calls go atm at expiration.

It will have no affect on my puts as I am already structured to survive a fifty percent drop.

If they were I doubt they would tell anyone. They aren't really good at customer service.

Late last week I had a huge jump in my margin requirements with a fully loaded lot of calls. It was suspicious and chose to remove 10 percent of calls to ensure that if I ever went itm I would not get a margin call.

(NOT an agent for TOS but happy customer :)Tyler,

You can group your trades by various ways by order, spread etc. Not sure whether you are looking for that. It's available under the Activity tab.

You can also add all the other details needed for you. Majority of them are hidden. You can right click and add them.

When in doubt call them and TOS folks will help (they did for me ).

I'm not sure of your other question about limit price. I pretty much entry only based on limit price.

CheerMN

I stress 20% down all the time anyway so really going to effect those who play it closer to edge, but it was nice of them to give us two weeks

Thanks - the trade grouping wasn't intuitive, but did figure it out.. I wish they would let me customize more of the columns.. I'd have my cash position available in the sub-totals, and I'd do a lot more to format how certain fields are displayed.. It also kills me that you cannot display the bid / ask values for the current positions in your position statement.. That is kind of bonkers for me.

On the changing the price - in IB if you want to change a working order, you just type a new price and hit enter.. In TOS, to change the price of a working order, I have to find order, right click, select find / replace, enter new value, and then confirm trade.. I can do it in 2 secs with IB, and it's a minimum 10 second operation with TOS.

I moved from IB to TOS a couple of years ago. I.ll say I struggled initially with the IB interface (I was coming from OptionsXpress) but then learned to love the power, speed and customizability of it (like you state below). Initially I opened a TOS account to manage my IRA, so I.d use TOS charts and other bells and whistles to find trades, not only for my IRA, but also my tax acct that I still had at IB. Eventually I switched everything over to TOS. The main reason I switched was the mobile app on TOS is far far superior to that of IB. If you don.t need that, I.d probably keep the main account in IB. Sometimes I consider going back but the poor mobile app is a deal-breaker for me. Steve From: supertraderkarenstudy@yahoogroups.com [mailto:supertraderkarenstudy@yahoogroups.com] Sent: Wednesday, September 2, 2015 10:10 AMTo: supertraderkarenstudy@yahoogroups.comSubject: Re: [SuperTraderKarenStudy] Fwd: Changes to Portfolio Margin index requirements

I can second the ios app.. I have a iPhone 6 plus because it had a 1920x1080 resolution - good as a monitor. Because I'm so much on the move, I'm forced to do work on this.

The ability to see charts and do verticals or spreads or monitor position or even look at the order book as in active trader - quite comfortable.

Of course, when at home, window10 tos app rules though many times At the kitchen table, I'm on my mobile app.

Thanks,Sanju
