I haven't been able to get it for a few months and just chalked it up

Mike,

Don't know where "over here" is but no problems hitting it from

Alabama in the US. Are you behind a firewall that might be blocking

it ? Or possibly a corporate proxy filter ?

I have Verizon DSL and that seems to be the only site (that I know

of) that won't load. I spent some time with their customer service

last night and they concluded their servers were working fine and

that it must be a router problem.

Do you have a DSL router, using NAT? Is your local IP

address (on your side of the DSL router) in the range

of 66.13.172.xxx?

Can you ping the address 66.13.172.18?

I've seen a couple of people set up their local IP

range in the same range as valid IP addresses on the

Internet, thus keeping them from reaching addresses in

that range.

Its just a thought....

Sort of funny... The piclist.com site is on Verizon DSL.

www.verizonsucks.com BTW, was registered by Verizon

www.dnsstuff.com/tools/whois.ch?ip=verizonsucks.com

So

www.2600.com registered

www.verizonreallysucks.com Whereupon Verizon sued them.

www.2600.com/cgi-bin/google.pl?q=verizon

They did back down, but 2600 ended up pulling the site eventually when

www.verizoneatspoop.com came online. That went down sometime in 2003

web.archive.org/web/20030624203530/www.verizoneatspoop.com/

There just isn't any consistency in protests these days... Must not have

been profitable.

That would be because tracert is based on a ping command, so if the end site

or one in between doesn't respond to pings, tracert will show them as timing

out - it doesn't mean they are down, just that they don't respond to you.

Mike

Hi :)

Traceroute is based on ICMP, which is what ping uses also, which is why it

doens't work because a lot of providers block ICMP.

One way to see if you can reach the server is by using telnet to the ---Links-Are-Forbidden--- (80), ie `telnet 66.13.127.18 80`

This will tell you if you can connect to the server it's hosted on,

however it wont tell you if the website itself is running if the server

uses virtual hosting (and most these days do) [and this is getting further

off topic :p sorry].

This is getting pretty far off topic here but you could always use a

proxy to get the pages for you. I know there are a few anonymous

proxy servers around -- just search for "anonymous proxy server" and

you are bound to find some.
