Hello,

I was wondering what you guys thought the simplest, cheapest in-

circuit PIC Microcontroller is.

Thanks.

www.microchip.com I didn't find 12C629 but there is a 12F629 and a

12C508. Use the search box.

Ooops. Yes 12F629. Here is an index of all low end processors:

www.microchip.com/1010/pline/picmicro/family/pic12/index.htm

You mean PIC chip or programmer?

PIC chip:

(assuming you don't want EPROM PICS): 12F629

programmer:

- must it be reliable too? (if not -> a serial port powered programmer)

- must it also program EPROM PICs? (if not -> my wisp628)

In my opinion the simplest ICSP PIC is still the popular PIC16F84(A)

The simplest ICSP is the Low Voltage Programming

It requires only a reliable LPT port and a bunch of wires.

But also it works only with a PIC16F628 or PIC16F87x.
