Can someone tell me or give me an example on how to implement the following

formula. My problem is the negative number!

a = -20

b = 32

x = Value

y=a+bx

Thanks in advance, Scott

Scott,

It is as easy as changing the formula to

y=bx-a

Assuming that x is never zero the above works.

a= -20

b=32

x=5

b*x = 160

y=160+ (-20) =140

y=160 - 20 = 140

Substituting for a and b gives

y = -20 + 32x

Rearranging gives

y = 32b - 20

So multiply b by 32 then subtract 20 from the result.
