Does it make more sense to use PORTA, instead of PORTB, for I2C bus

lines since they have to be tied high anyway and PORTA is open

collector?

You mean bit banged I assume? The built in I2C takes care of open

collectors.

Yes, bit-banged. The hardware I2C looks too daunting and I've

already got bit-banged working.

I was thinking of switching it over to PORTA so that I can use two

more precious PORTB pins.

I think it could work, as long as you were careful to tristate when

high to catch bus collisions, or rolled you own open collector on

another pin.
