Doug,

I have been having a lot of Obs PC crashes when trying to save files

during processing. XP-Pro machine with all updates etc.

Tonight in an attempt to process some files I installed my Ver 4.09 on a

new laptop with the dreaded Vista Business installed.

When I start Maxim or load files I get an error message as below.

*.PinPoint registry access failed 1, code=5.*

Is there any simple way to disable PinPoint as I don.t use it and

certainly will not need to on a image processing / calibration PC.

I'm afraid 4.09 is not compatible with Windows Vista. That is the root cause of

the PinPoint problem. My best recommendation is to upgrade.

You might be able to get most things working if you turn off UAC.

You should be able to upgrade to at least 4.11. If you turn off UAC, download

4.11 (Help menu Check For Updates), uninstall 4.09, and then install 4.11 it

will likely fix the PinPoint problem.

There are some functions, though, that simply will not work under Vista.

Fortunately they are mostly minor things, such as the What's This? help.
