Re: registering registered software......

I have been reinstalling Maxim v5.07, the latest to which I am entitled, on my

observatory computer. It has had three different motherboards due to component

failure every few weeks, but is now stable! Maxim includes PinPoint LE. I also

have a registered copy of ACP (including Visual PinPoint). The problem is that

whenever I try to run the Maxim Pinpoint LE, it fails, telling me that I need to

'register'. Well I have (as explained), but I can no longer tell ACP that it is

registered. This Catch-22 situation is made worse by the new ruling that no

queries can be posted to the ACP forum unless you have paid for the latest

version of ACP..... All I want is for Maxim LE Pinpoint to work.

Any ideas here?

There is a Yahoo ACP list set up at

tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/acp_usersgroup/

You might try over there.

This is not correct. DC-3 Dreams offers "direct to Bob Denny" support as well as

upgrades on a yearly basis. Yours ran out in 2007.

I'm trying to figure out where you explained why you can't register ACP. I

looked back in this forum quite a ways by your name...

Did you happen to run the ACP installer after MaxIm? If so, then PinPoint is

locking onto the ACP license and trying to run PinPoint in full mode, and the

PinPoint LE that comes with MaxIm is newer, with new functionality. There is not

any way we (Diffraction and DC-3) can deal with this problem. This is going too

happen again soon with a PinPoint update that includes support for the UCAC3

catalog. If all you want is MaxIm and not ACP, then you can uninstall ACP, then

re-run the MaxIm 5 installer to install and configure PinPoint LE.

I am happy to help you here... If I don't check back soon enough, ping me with

an email at rdenny@....

Hi Lawrence

Come on over to the ACP Users Group mentioned by Jim. I am the List Owner and I set up the Group just for people in your situation. I think we can probably help you and any others that are caught in this unfortunate situation.
