What a lot I could write about this problem! In fact I have previously
described it in great detail on this forum.......
The short answer is that you can only do dark frame subtraction on the main CCD
guide tab - not the SX AO guide tab. For basic calibration you must find a
genuine bright isolated star and use that. Any other with probably be ignored
by Maxim for the reasons you have discovered.......
