Any suggestions how to leave the object you are photographing and slew to a nearby star to re-focus, then go back to the exact position to continue shooting. I use Maxim DL, AP 900 mount, digital focuser w/ focusmax, STL 11000 everthing is linked, calibrated and synced. The GSC(guide star catalog) is loaded. I pinpoint astrometry each photo to center my images. Thanks.

Bruce,

Since you are already using FocusMax why don't you use FMx's Acquire

Star feature ?

CCDCommander would do this very simply.

If you are using The Sky, you can choose/slew to a nearby star with the right magnitude for focusing, and then hit "slew prior" button in the object window under the telescope tab (in TheSky), and it will slew you back to your last position.

Hi Bruce,

In order of increasing cost:

CCD Commander (I use it regularly now)

CCD AutoPilot (I have it, but it hasn't seen much use yet)

ACP (more than I want or need for right now)

I supose you could write something yourself, but for $100 CCD Commander is a good automation solution.

The first and last ones have already been recommended.

Audie
