I currently have MaxIm Essentials and since it does not allow flat frame calibrations I am currently considering Upgrading to the PRO version. One question for the PRO users, Does PRO allow the user to select his own guide star? From what I can research the older versions selected the star (or hot pixel) itself. What does the latest version do? Thanks for any answers, Bill.

Hi,

Well, I only just began using Maxim DL Pro, but when I guide, I take an exposure, then click on the star I want to use and its location is then shown in the pannel. Then I tell it to calibrate and after that I tell it to guide and it appears to use the star that I chose. Guiding works well, I am quite happy with it.

Hi,

I do automated imaging via ACP (with dithering).

Personally,.I have never exprienced a problem with a guidestar that is automatically selected by MaximDL. The only occaision that I had to manually select.was during calibration when the brightest star is near the edge of the image.
