Will I be able to use the new SG-4 with maxim 4.6X. Does it have any interlacing issues or anything else I should know about.

thanks

Hi Jeff,

The SG-4 is intened to be a "Stand Alone" guider, no computer required for guiding so no MaxIm support for camera control. However, MaxIm will be able to process SG-4 images. The Kodak Interline Transfer CCD has no interlace issues.

No, it is a standalone guider. MaxIm DL cannot control it.

Jeff,

Contrary to the answers you've gotten, MaxIm can control the SG-4.

Included with the SG-4 is an ASCOM camera driver that will let MaxIm

control the camera, both for focusing and guiding.

That's wonderful news.

The reason for my negative response was that there is no mention of ASCOM

whatsoever in the user manual www.sbig.com/pdffiles/SG4%20Manual.pdf or

on your web site. You might want to address that.

Jeff,

If you are already running ACP, the ST-402 is a better guiding

solution than the SG-4. The SG-4 has a much slower download and is a

smaller detector than the one in the ST-402. The ST-402 gives you

faster download, bigger FOV, and cooling.

The ST-402 is a much better guiding solution if you do not need the

stand-alone capability of the SG-4.

Thanks Matt. I did read the specs and figured that it wouldn't be best to use this camera in my situation. I know Terry is working on things and hopefully will have a resolution soon.

thanks again.
