I am planning to try my hand at making a mosaic of the orion nebula but i have a question pertaining to v5.07 of MaximDL's method for doing this:

To start the mosaic should you place the scope start position at the center of the final image or the upper left quadrant of the image when starting MaximDL for the first set?

I see that the system can do a sequence of images from left to right for each row to start but am not sure in which position i should start the sequence running. The final shot will probably be a combination of 3 rows of three LRGB image sets for a total of 9 LRGB image sets altogehter. Image set #5 would, of course, be the center of the final image.

Thanks,

Brian A.

Your choice. See www.cyanogen.com/help/maximdl/Autosave_Sequence.htm

Maxim has an option in the autosave sequence to acquire a mosaic by moving the telescope from one proposed panel to the next. What happens with guiding? Does Maxim automatically acquire a new guide star when it moves to another panel?

Yes, when you are doing mosaic's and autoguiding in Maxim, it will work.

This feature is not very well documented.

I was not sure myself and so I tried by setting up a simple mosaic and then

setting up AG and it worked.
