Re: Question about dark frames with ATIK 314L+ Camera

Hi all,

I just got an ATIK 314L+ camera and since it doesn't have a shutter, I wanted to figure out how to take dark frames without using the cover and uncover the telescope method.

If I set MaximDL to take darks, the default behavior is to prompt to cover the telescope. Instead, I want to use one of the filter positions in my Homeyer filter wheel as the dark position, with a blocking filter in place.

Would it be a program function or a driver function to specify to take darks by using a specific filter instead of a shutter or by covering the end of the telescope? In other words, can the driver inform the program that darks can be taken with a specific filter setting instead of covering and uncovering or is it a program function? Or can the program just be set to use a filter for darks?

Thanks,

-Jim

Look for "Use Filter Wheel as Shutter" under:

Doug,

I just knew there had to be something in MaximDL. It has such an extensive set of features and support of cameras that it's hard to remember everything that it can do. Thanks also for not telling me to "read the manual" and taking the time to point out the correct setting.
