Re: Pulse Guiding and Meade LXD75 Mount

Typically the ASCOM driver for the LXD75 does not support pulse

guiding. Apparently, a modified ASCOM driver supporting this protocol

is now available. Assuming that this driver is used with MaximDL, will

the mount now operate under the pulse guide protocol? In other words,

does MaximDL or the ASCOM driver dictate the form of the issued

command set?

That's entirely up to the ASCOM driver. If it supports PulseGuide, then MaxIm

DL will use it.

Hi Peter,

It was my understanding that the Meade ASCOM driver has always

supported ASCOM PulseGuide(), at least I used it about 2 years ago on

my LXD75 mount.

The recent mod was to change the low level serial command sent to the

mount from the driver to use a newer command which can support a timed

move, rather than having the driver do the timing.

As such, you can use either the new or old driver with Maxim and be

able to do guiding, but the new driver may give more precise

corrections since the timing is done in the mount.
