Re: Program halt with SX universal

I have finally managed to isolate the circumstances in which Maxim halts

during my SXV-H9C sessions. I use the latest version of Maxim with the

latest SX driver. I run Win-XP on a laptop. I use a USB2 PCMCIA plug-in

for the SXV-H9C camera. What has been happening is near the start of a

session I do focusing and suddenly Maxim fails to complete a download. The

program freezes and the CCD cable has to be disconnected. Maxim has to be

closed down, but on re-starting, the error message comes up to say the

driver has got corrupted. This can only be cleared by a full computer

re-boot.

The circumstances are that focusing only works using binned images when of

short duration. Obviously accurate focusing is best done at full res

(unbinned), and it is during this last stage of changing to unbinned mode

of short exposures that the problem occurs. I have not tried using longer

exposures because they are not needed.

Has this problem been identified before and already fixed in some way?

I have had this problem for some time but I had assumed that it was due to

an intermittent fault on the PCMCIA card. I am now sure that this is not

the case.

Have you got a delay between exposures set?. If not, try it.

This particular behaviour seems to keep coming 'round' with the SX driver

and Maxim, but does for me at least become 'bearable', with a short delay

between exposures.
