I note with dismay that there are 61 processes running in the

background when I first boot up XP Home on my Sony Vaio. I have no

clue which ones are vital to the operation of the computer for

imaging, but I have a feeling that many, if not most, are not

essential. Is there a non-experimental, safe way, to kill off the

unneeded processes so I can image in peace?

I don't know about "non-experimental", but the closest I've come to solving

this exasperating problem can be found at

A short way down is a searchable table that should get you started - hope

this helps.
