From one novice to another, Todd:

Be patient

Go slowly

Read the directions

Go slowly

Read the directions, again

Read the directions again.

I was used to the Meade go-to hand controller and it took be a few

miinutes, and careful reading of the directions, to understand that

you need to hold down TWO buttons to make the mount slew.

After you align the alignment star, you need to scroll

to 'synchronize' to enter it.

These things are not intuitive to a novice like me, especially having

been brainwashed by Meade. But I did find everything is actually in

the directions.

Check out the Gemini users group, too.

Check out the "Gemini how-to" in the files section here, as well as

the Castleberry file, and the Gemini tips file.

Nice scope Todd!

If you don't have the Gemini manual, I can see where it could be problematic first time out. However; if your new system came with the level 3 software, it should be fairly easy to operate, especially if you have ANY experience with other goto scopes like the LX200. I suspect that you have an older version of the Gemini though and they were not very user friendly (IMHO).

So first, verify that you have level 3 Gemini. If you don't, suggest you order the upgrade chip ASAP. Upgrade chips can be ordered directly from "DocGoerlich.com" (Gemini creator)

Next, get yourself a Users Manual to match whichever level of Gemini it is that you are using. Download from either "Losmandy.com", or "DocGoerlich.com" web pages.

Note: The level 3 upgrade is significant enough that I seriously recommend you get it if you don't already have it. If it's not in the budget at this time, the other levels will certainly

work, but they are not quite as user friendly, and the manual is really needed. Bottom line: Get whichever manual you need and follow the instructions. Then, IF you have problems, it is likely that you can find adequate solutions to specific questions at this Users' group. Good luck!

Todd,

Exactly what trouble were you having?

The most common novice mistake, is to enter the UTC time

incorrectly. You have to enter UTC time into the Gemini, using the

format:

yymm.dd hh:mm:ss

Take Care,
