Hey guys, new to this group as of today! Recently received my G11 mount, and One Piece Worm Block. I installed the new worm block following online instructions. Afterwards I noticed a fair bit of play in the R.A axis, about 5mm+. I pulled it apart again, and noticed that there was a slight amount of movement from side to side of the worm. I pushed the 2 blocks firmly together and tightened them up, so there was no sideways movement of the worm between the blocks whatsoever.

There is still a tiny bit of play in the R.A, even with the clutch done up very tight, and I can't remember if there was any play before I swapped the blocks over?

There is no play in the DEC axis at all. I spoke to the shop where I bought the mount from, and he says that it is normal for 1mm or so of play.

What do you guys think?

Thanks

Erik,

I had a similar problem that I was able to solve this weekend. I had to loosen the OPWB mounting screws, & both bearing blocks, loosen the adjustment thumb screw all the way out, then gently pinch the bearing blocks together to remove the lateral play in the worm & tighten the bearing blocks down, then push the OPWB into the RA gears & "rock" the RA to get the worn to seat fully into the RA gears, the while holding the OPWB against the RA gear tighten the OPWB mounting screws. I found that if I tighten the motor side then the adjustment screw side it seemed to be easier to get the OPWB to retain its' tightness against the RA gear. I believe that after getting everything back together the adjustment is used to create more of a gap between the RA gear & the worm. Before this I had 4-5mm of play in the RA after >1mm. HTH

Clear Skies

John
