There are some pictures, in the Photo section, of a G-11 mount in a

Pelican 1620. Can the user (zalsaone) who posted those images please

contact me?

I'm thinking about duplicating that configuration; however, the 1620 case

I've seen doesn't appear to be the same dimensions.

Here are the dimensions I have for a Pelican 1620 case.

ext 24 5/8" L x 19 1/2" W x 14" D

int 22 1/4" L x 17 1/8" W x 12 1/2" D

Are those the same dimensions of your case?

Thanks very much,

I didn't post those pictures nor do I know if those are the correct

dimensions, but I can tell you that the 1620 is the one you want to

go with if you choose to use a Pelican case. I've been using one for

my G-11 head for over 2 years and it's worked great. I'm fairly sure

it's the only model that will accommodate it.

This seems to be the most highly recommended case for the G-11 head.

I think I'll order one.

PS: Where did all these new posts come from???

I have my G-11 Gemini head in a 1620, but I admit it is a bit of a

tight fit. You have to be careful about how you pick and pluck and I

chose to remove the PAS whenever placing the head into the box. I

was able to get the counterweight shaft and the PAS to lay in

cutouts in the top layer of solid foam. I also had to make some

cutouts in the bottom of the top layer of foam for the motors to

nestle into.

Janice,

I've got my C8, along with the finder, solar filter and plenty of room to

add more accessories in a 1650.

Are you sure I need another one this large? I can say for certain, those

pictures don't look like a 1650...because I have one. :-)

Roth,

Well, they do make a few larger cases...but due to the weight of the

mount, I don't want to put any of the electronics in with it (they will go

in a separate case).

Sorry, you're right; I got my numbers crossed :) 1650 it is...

cases4less.com has the 1650 on sale right now for $178US

I think that's a pretty darn good price and about what I paid for my

1620 a year or so ago...

I use the Pelican 1620 case for the G-11 Gemini head. I get

the head with PAS, counterweight bar, handcontroller, cables

and Gemini Controller into the case. The inside dimensions of

the 1620 compared to the 1650 are

1620 .... 22 1/16"L x 17"W x 12 9/16"D

1650 .... 29"L x 17 7/8"W x 10 1/2"D

Notice that although the 1620 is 7" shorter in length than the

1650, it is slightly more than 2" deeper. I found the depth

to be an important factor in providing adequate clearance for

the Gemini Servo motors.

You may want to carefully check your dimensions before deciding on

the 1650 for the G-11 Gemini.

BTW.. They now have the 1660 case which is bigger in all dimensions

than the 1620 and 1650. It could double as a "portable bunkhouse"

when you have the scope set up. :)

Regards,

Bill F.

p.s. Sorry for the late post... I've been away from my email for

the past few days.
