PEC questions

Hi Everyone:

Just a question if Scott or anyone knows the answer. If I program the PEC of

my GM11 at speed 3x or 6x, the control box reproduces the corrections I made

automatically. But afterwards, while the control box is running the

corrections, I might touch the handcontrol to move the telescope a little,

if I did so, I might be affecting the reproduction of corrections, how does

the control box calibrates my latter operations to follow the sequence of

programed PEC?. In other words, If I program PEC 3x or 6x, and afterwards I

operate the handcontrol westwards or eastwards, I am breaking the sequence

of programmed PEC. How does the control pannel knows how much I have moved

the worm gear, to restart the sequence in the right place?

Shoud I don't touch the control box after programing PEC?

Thanks for your help.

Starry nights

Do you have a Gemini drive system or the stepper drive system.

I have the stepper system that came with the GM-8.

For strictly visual, at mags between 54 and 200 (in an f16 75 mm

refractor), how useful is going through PEC, anyways. My time is

limited because of work, so I don't want to waste time overa routine

that is not beneficial.

Thanks.

You have to retrain it everytime you power off the mount (maybe

every time you turn it off too - can't remember...).

And when it's on you can only move the mount at the guiding rates.

For you, I think it would not be worth your time. If you were

trying to take some unguided photos, then maybe.

Hello, i have bought a G11 not gemini and i will try astrophotography

soon. I have on hand a Starlight Xpress MX5C with star 2000. I want

to know if i can mesure pec error with a software or i can just make

it with a gemini mount ? If i can make it, can you give me a web link

on how to make it ?

Thanks a lot.
