Hi all, i.m a new G11 user and i.m trying to do astrophotography, is

it advisable to use PEC while guiding? I.ve heard many opinions about

it in other groups, but i want to know the experience of Losmandy

owners. If so, what considerations must be taken?

Thanks in advance, Florencio

Yes, of course. PEC smooths the RA tracking, which makes it _easier_to

autoguide.

None, really. Just turn it on and use of the amount normally. The

autoguider doesn't know whether you have PEC turned on or off.

Yes, use PEC while guiding. There is an old myth that PEC and guiding will fight

against each other. It is just that - a myth.

I has it's origin, in one particular case. A particular manufactirer, a

while ago, did a well known system with PEC, which did not 'time shift'

the PEC data, when it was stored/ued. What happened wth it enabled, was

that it compensated slightly after the star moved al the time. This

resulted, when an autouider was used, in two corrections being issued,

and overshoot. Hence on these scopes, the advice was to turn off PEC. On

systems with PEC, that works properly, this doesn't apply, but it is

from this one example, that the 'myth' was born...

Any advise on how best to load a PEMPro PEC curve? Do I need to invert it prior to loading into Gemini L4? Time shift it? Or just collect PEC data, calculate the curve (throwing out the 3rd fundamental if the 76s issue is present) and load it?

Thanks in advance!

Scott
