Dear Friends

My PC w XP2000 (only USB ports) and Gemini (on Losmandy G11)doesn't

communicate. I use Cartes du Ciel as planetary program. Tried to

configurate both automatic and manual search of comports. R232cable to

gemini with a converter cable to USB connected to PC. The reply

is "found no COM-port"

What to do next? With your help I'm sure life will become easy. At

least in this aspect. i don't ask for mor at present.

Regards

Martin

First you need to determine what com port your USB cable is generating.

I have 2 links to refer you to to read. They are on my FAQ section and

here are tinyurl links to them:

*tinyurl.com/ytc6s5

and

**tinyurl.com/ytc6s5*

With these you should be able to tell if your USB to Serial converter is

generating a virtual com port and what that com port is.

If your USB to serial converter is not generating a Virtual Com port

then you will need the proper driver for your device in Windows 2000.

Windows 2000 is not as easy as XP because it requires admin permissions

to add hardware.

For some reason the tinyURL links did not work correctly, try these:

Hi,

Get GCC from Doc Goerlich homepage and try to connect your pc with this program, there is a huge manual as a pdf file. Read the manual and check the your cable against the cable spec. Look in the system of your computer and check that the computer found the USB converter allright. In the gemini box at the scope connect your cable at the RS232 port (4 pin modular connector) and leave the hand control as it is connected at the side of the box. Start up Gemini the old way and keep attention to the hand control as usual, select cold start or warm start what ever suits you. When the upstart process are ok, try to connect to the scope using GCC.
