In February, I ordered a GM 8 UV dovetail plate from Scott. I was

able to reach him a couple times in March, and he explained the

delay, but last week and this week, repeated voice mail, e-mail, and

faxes have gone unanswered. Have others experienced these types of

delays or lack of response? Is something amiss at Losmandy?

Hugh,

I live right across the bay from you and I ordered a dc8 dovetail from

anacortes and it was back ordered for more then a month. I finally got it

yesterday. From what I understand losmandy was on vacation.

Eric

Hi,

Sometimes, reaching Scot is very frustrating. The delivery times can be

indeed too long. It is a fact, nothing to say about it. But the mount is

accurate and sturdy, and can be repaired and optimized by anybody with

very basic tools. I learned a lot, while trying to "beat the system" and

bring the guiding accuracy of my STV to sub-pixel values.

If only Scott will answer my emails with a sentence longer than 3 words,

including Hello and Scott....

Hugh,

Several months ago I inquired about a dual 6 pin connector so I could hook

up a guider and hand controller. I received a very nice reply and

subsequently I sent a check on 2/12 for the connector. So far the check has

not been cashed nor the connector sent. I just assumed that the check got

misplaced or lost along the way. I have not followed up with Losmandy.

Dan,

I had similar pleasant phone conversations with Scott prior to

ordering the dovetail plate. He was intellectually involved and

figured out what I needed.

I think what happened was that he invented a better mousetrap, the

world beat a path to his door, and he is a little overwhelmed at

times trying to run a small business.

In my case, three hours after posting here, I got an apologetic e-

mail response from Scott saying he was shipping it today and even

giving me a tracking number! Maybe it was just a coincidence, but I

think I owe a big THANK YOU to the creator of this forum.

In your case, I would advise following up. I suspect he has your

check, and it just got buried in his in-basket.

Thanks also to the others that have responded to my inquiry. It

helps to know I am not alone or going crazy.

I recently ordered an 8192 DSCH unit from a retail outlet and

received two of the same encoder housings (RA and DEC are different).

Upon receiving a less than enthusiastic effort from the retailer

after several days wait, I reached Scott on the first call (Thursday)

and explained the situation. He asked me to send back the incorrect

housing and he would exchange it upon receipt. I shipped back the

part for exchange Thursday evening via UPS and faxed Scott on Friday

announcing the part would be there on Tuesday, would he please send

the exchange part now (Friday) so I would not have to waste another

weekend. The part came today,(Tuesday) the same day he received the

returned part in exchange. I agree that Scott must be overwhelmed at

times as the world is beating a path to his door, but the service I

got was nothing less than top notch in my book..

I agree, I find that I have occasion to call Scott about once a month as my

university has about 10 different mounts that are used every night of the week

for almost 1200 lab students. EVERY time I've called, he's either answered the

phone, or took the call from one of his employees and visited with me. Perhaps

I'm one of the reasons some of you aren't getting through!! (smile!). Seriously,

Losmandy is the Best!!!
