Can anyone tell me if it is OK to use an autoguider like my STV to guide the G11

during the 4 minute PEC guide session. The instructions say to ignore any Dec drift

and use only Ra corrections. The STV will be doing both axis and I wondered if that

messes up the results.

Also, once this is done do I need to do it every time I go to use the mount.

Thanks,

Mitch

Hi Mitch,

It's OK to use STV to train PEC, but you'll get better results if

you turn off updates to the DEC axis. I'm not sure if that's possibe

in STV, but most guider software packages let you selectively turn

off updates to one or both axis. I'd check to see if this setting is

available.

Mitch,

This depends on whether your have the standard stepper motor system or the

Gemini system attached to your G11. If you have the standard system, the PEC

cannot be saved and you must do it each time. If you have the Gemini system, the

PEC is saved, but each time you power up the mount you must remember to turn PEC

on by going into the PEC menu.
