Hi John and others:

I have a.question about the big island. .If you are at a lower elevation, can."vog".damage your optics? .I may want to retire in Hawaii but I don't want my scopes to have issues.

Vog is a real problem from about Kona down toward the southmost point. Last winter we experienced considerable vog after landing at the Kona airport. It gets less so as you go to the northern part of the Kohala mountains. We experienced none whatsoever in the week we were there, and this may be because of the steady trade winds coming in from the north-east. Chris Erickson can fill you in on that, and how the scope optics fare on various parts of the Big Island. Rolando
