It takes some serious gonads to part with an AP scope or mount. Justthinking about myself, I sincerely never see it happening (AP 130GT,AP 160, AP RHA, AP 1200/CP3, AP Mach1).

Anthony, I just sold my AP130EDT f/8.35 - it was identical in every way except focal length to my AP155EDF so it needed a better home than I could provide. I wish I could have exchanged it for a Traveller. Too bad there is no lobby effort going on to get those back into production. LOL!

Looking at the picture of your 130 EDT brings to mind a question, were all of the F/8 130EDT's oiled? Mine doesn't have an expanded objective end like yours so I assume it was an earlier model but don't now recall when I bought it.

Now outfitted with a MACH1GTO mount it has become my very favorite portable do everything, go anywhere visual telescope. A fabulous combination that always performs flawlessly.Thank you, Roland.

That's the problem. Any discussion of the possibility of a run of aparticular scope, be it something new or something that has beenaround for a while, and people have differing opinions aboutaperture and focal ratio. Then, in other venues, folks startcampaigning for a different design entirely. It must be hard to knowwhat to make, although the 130 GT and GTX certainly seem to nicelyfill a desired niche.

Me, I'd love to see a 5-inch or 6-inch f/12 in the mix again.Obviously, given today's trend toward faster scopes, and AP'sexperience with orders for these in the past, that's unlikely. (Andthe reality is that I am probably done buying new telescopes. I'vebeen spending time learning how to get the most from those we have.Might even get into some imaging once we get through anotherwinter.)

Clear skies, Alan

Hi Richard,

This is a email reply I got from Roland regarding older EDT's. Looks like

they are all oil spaced.

"FPL 53 was not available in 1993. FPL52 was the advanced ED glass at that

time and was mated to a special Schott zinc crown that is not available

today. The color correction was as good as any that we have today, but of

course both glasses have disappeared. The EDT lenses are oil spaced.

Roland"
