I'm considering the purchase of an SII and OIII filter. While I use Astrodon LRGB, and a 6nm HA filter the price and very narrow band pass of the OIII and SII filters from Don are a bit discouraging for my use. I know they are quality and you must pay for that ie no free lunches. I have been looking at the Baader offerings and they are very cheap compared to the AstroDons. I will be using them with an ST-2000XM (I know it's not the best choice for narrowband) and my Tak TSA 102 operating at F/6. I was hoping that I could draw opinions from those that have used one or the other or better yet both the Baaders and AstroDons. I know Roland uses the Baader filters and his images are excellent to say the least. Anyone have any thoughts on which way I should go here?

Both Astronomik and Baader are excellent, IMHO. I have even checked the passbands on a number of samples. The narrower you go, the more important it is that the passband is well centered, not as much of a "given" as one might expect. No complaints of significance with either brand:

But Note! If they offer, eg Ha-CCD then that implies that the filter has IR blocked (desirable) otherwise the filter may leak in IR. Always check that the published passband meets what you want. If there is no published passband then I would simply stay clear of that brand. Others have found that paying a premium price (check Christian Buil's data) is no guarantee that the passband is even centered. I have never used Astrodon nor Custom Scientific. The proper group to pose these queries and where heated arguments sometimes arise, is:

I think that AP is an agent for Baader?
