Re: 900GTO Control via TheSky

Since there has not been a clear night in a couple of weeks I haven't been

able to go outside and play with a few settings to figure a couple of

questions out. I am using an AP900 controlled by TheSky beta version .043

(current). I am only just starting to try full computer control of the

mount, I have been using the AP keypad for all mount settings until now. I

wonder if I might get a couple quick answers:

1. When framing the image in focus mode, do the "Telescope Move" buttons

on the Focus tab in CCDSoft use the selected move rate set in TheSky? So

if I select the "center" rate, this corresponds to the keypad's 12x

sidereal rate.

2. When I want to calibrate the mount for autoguiding, setting the "Motion

Control" in TheSky to "guide," is equivalent to setting the mount's motion

to 1x with the keypad.

I know these are probably silly questions, but with the current weather

here, I don't want to waste even a single moment when it does clear. I

also do know that I cannot switch back and forth between keypad and TheSky,

assume all mount control is via TheSky.

Thanks,

Bill Gardner

There are no silly questions Bill.

From my experience you correct in both your assumptions. One thing

that is very important that I have learned is that you must have the

motion controls window open in TheSky and have it set to a either

Center or Guide depending on how fast you want things to move around

when you hit the move buttons in CCDSoft. If the motion controls

window is not open, I think it defaults to slew rates. In any event

you will lose your target off the chip in a fraction of a second, a

frustrating experience, especially when you have things setup

up "almost" close to perfection.

I hope your skies clear soon!
