My bathroom scale says about 7+ lbs (3.2kg). I'm told we have a better scale for this size mass but like most things in this house we can't find it.

Hi Roy,

Some time ago, I bought a 10 lb limit cooking digital scale, just for such

astro use (I don't cook). This was after I discovered that my digital

bathroom scale does not turn on unless there is at least 50 lbs on the

scale. So, for the heavier items, I stand on it with the item to be weighted

in my hands, and then subtract the difference. The cooking scale would be

ideal for measuring the counterweight.

Perhaps you, or the cook in the family, have one as well.
