My 1200 mount is now getting very hard to turn by hand in RA. I first noticed

it when I tried to rebalance the OTA. In it's current state it is impossible to

balance. With all 4 clutch knobs loose I can still feel much more resistance

than was originally there. I read the manual which recommended 1-3 drops of 3in1

oil but that has had little effect. I've had the mount since October of 2000.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

It sounds like the plastic clutch plugs are splayed at the ends. Call our

number at 815-282-1513 during the day and talk to Wally. He can tell you how

to check for this and send you some new ones to install.

Roland-

That was the problem. As soon as I replaced the 4 plugs and the same

smooth movement returned as when it was new. Also tell Wally "The

tool is in the mail".

Is there a way to avoid splaying the ends of the plastic clutch

plugs? I assume the 900GTO has them, too - -

Yes, making sure that the right plastic material is sent to us by the

supplier. We have let them know that substitutions are not permissable.
