I get a bunch of these, and they are ground reports but PlanePlotter
logs them as "unknown message type" ... here's an example:
---[2013-03-02 01:14:27]---
{SYN}{SYN}{SOH}
2 {mode}
{00}{00}{00}{00}{00}{0
{NAK} {ack}
SQ {unknown message type}
{00} {block}
{STX}
02XASJCKSJC23722N12155
{ETX}
This was on 131.55 near KSJC. Time is GMT.

It's the squitter from KSJC. They confuse PlanePlotter a little. From the
help file:
*Squitters*
Squitters are broadcast at regular intervals by base stations. As they are
broadcast there is no destination aircraft registration. Some are rather
brief; others append data that can reveal the identity of the base station.
*g ! SQ 02XSXRYLEJR03644N00603
This example squitter from the ARINC ground station at Jerez, Espa.a (code
.g.) includes its ICAO location indicator (LEJR) and its latitude and
longitude.

It's the squitter from KSJC.
Yes, I know. I was hoping to help Bev add a new message type :-)

Ah, gotcha. I asked about the same a while back - PP tries to plot these
messages as flights.
