Just out of curiosity, I fired up a virtual machine, that I keep around for

testing software that can be quickly restored from a previous snapshot just

in case the web site contained malicious code, and took a look. At first

glance it appears legit. However, there are some subtle clues. The site is

clearly foreign, and after the few minutes it took me to type this email to

this point, Internet Explorer crashed and a popup wanted me to "facilitate

shopping" by adding their site to my favorites list. I expect I'll be

restoring that virtual machine from a snapshot.

Hi everybody. I am new to the group and, although I've been a ham since

1976, was off the air for an extended period of time due to several

moves and family commitments. I am very excited to be back again with my

TS590 and a multiband dipole. I'm also very happy about this software

package which I have had for over a year but have just started using. I

am also visually impaired and use Window-Eyes with the software. I'm

excited to see the message about the new 4.0 contact log program but

will wait to give it a little more time, as advised in the announcement.

My only issue has been getting the computer to accept a USB connection

to the rig, but every time I do that, I lose speech from my screen

reader. For now, I've got it working with a serial to USB set up, but

the idea that the USB connection is available and I've been unable to

get it to work is puzzling. Maybe a 2nd sound card will work as I am

told the computer thinks the rig is now the main sound card.

To Scott, I think there have been several new programs added since my

purchase in late 2011. When you have time, could you send me a list of

programs and passwords or post how to get them? I use a different email

address for such things and I can write to you from that one if

necessary. I'm just not sure where to send the request.

It is nice to be on the group. I am new to all of the electronic QSL

choices that are available now and am still a novice at learning to use

them. It's great not to have to beg somebody to fill out QSL cards for

me any more, although I am sure there are now software programs which

will allow you to make a physical QSL card if needed. Hope to see many

of you on the bands. My choice of mode is "continuous wonder" although

I've been doing more SSB work since my paddles have become lost in the

moving shuffle, and I am still trying to fine tune the bug so that it

sounds better. Well, I've been asking St. Anthony to help find them, but

I guess he is on summer break! I've been also asking to find one of my

black bishop pieces to my chess board too, so he has some work waiting

for him!
