My main general comment to this would be .DON.T change the ability to personalize... !!! We all don.t necessarily have wide monitors, my widest is 17.. Plus, even though my wife doesn.t use ACL, she typically sets the screen resolution to 800 x 600 due to eyesight problems. I can keep my resolution a bit tighter but still have screen resolution issues if a program hasn.t allowed for users to have varying resolutions. With the way ACL is set up now, I can easily get a view that matches my needs, eye resolution and screen resolutions. Don.t lose the capability to vary these types of things. Okay, related question. The first time I wrote these programs weall had much narrower monitors. Now that we have wide ones, thereis some extra space at the bottom right when the DX Spotting form isdisplayed. I could use that space for the band map and I am alsoopen to other ideas and suggestions.
Here is a screen shot of the template that I've rewritten so far inC#. The main form is set up for Field Day (with the exception ofsome columns that will be hidden), but I'll be using this template as Iroll out all the programs, including AC Log, so I want to get thisright.
As you can see, overall the appearance is virtually identically to theVB6 version, but at the bottom I can display all the DX spot data andstill have slightly less than half the screen to the right that iscurrently unused.
With that unused section to the right I can:
1. Spread the DX Spots list info out as it currently appears in theVB6 versions.
2. Program the band map to display in that area.
3. Display something else (remember, this area of the form onlyappears when DX spotting is optionally select, so it would have to berelated)
It would be nice if the spot could be compared to the log and flaggedwith a color if it was a 'needed' state, country or whatever for theparticular program. IE: DXCC Country needed for ACL, Section needed forSweepstakes or FD, etc.
