Greetings all Hope everyone enjoyed the contest this weekend. I managed 172 Q's; 67 country's and 17 zones. My problem is I was only going to get in for a couple of contacts and Iused AClog. So when I created and ADI file and imported it into N3FJP's CQ-WW programit did not calculate points and multipliers at all.  It created an File tosend in OK.  Any ideas.  Tom Carroll, W9CSX

Hi Tom,

Thanks for your e-mail.  Always be sure to use the contesting software for the contest.  Much of the data is calculated on entry.

I haven't experimented going from AC Log to the contesting software in ADIF, but I think you might be okay for this program, though I'm not sure.  Go ahead and remove your claimed score from the Cabrillo file and send it in.  The robot will rescore your log anyway after scrubbing it for accuracy.

This was a really fun contest!  Dave, N3HCN and I operated as multi operator, two transmitter, low power (100 watts) here.  We managed 943 Qs with mostly full wave wire loops and dipoles at 6/10 of a wavelength above ground (for 20, 15 and 10).

I am really having a ball!

Great time on CQ WW CW.

Program ran great with no problems connected to my IC-7600.  Used a 43 foot vertical and about 400 watts out.

Results were better than last year.

80  4440  10620  15115  2810  51

Total was 380 Q's   91 country's  and 27 zones

288,768 points.

Hope every one got on and had a good weekend.

Thanks Scott and group.

Thanks so much for your kind words and good report Tom!  Congratulations on 380 QSOs, that's super!

I initially started out in the contest casually, not really planning on a full effort here, but I got sucked in by all the DX and just having a good time.  I didn't start until Saturday morning, intermixing contest Qs with e-mail support and helping some other folks in our club who are newer to contesting get started.

By the time Sunday evening rolled around, I had put in about 24 operating hours, had 935 Qs in the log with 452 multipliers for a total score of 1,182,844.  I ran 500 watts and the new hex beam at 38 feet definitely helped, but I still used the individual dipoles and loops a lot, when it was quicker to flip to another antenna than turn the beam (www.n3fjp.com/antennas/index.html).

The combination of the ease of this contest exchange, the enticing DX and scoring structure really make this contest addictive.  935 Qs for a CW contest is a solo personal best for me.  I am not a fast CW op, but with DX spotting, the entire process consisted of clicking on a spot, listening to see if he sends the call you expect, pressing one F key to send your call, another F key to send the rest of your exchange after he answers and then pressing enter.  The software does the rest and it couldn't be easier!  (This isn't a software promotion.  I'm writing this to encourage folks who are tentative about CW to try this contest in particular for CW - it's a great one to start with!)

As long as there were stations to find and work, maintaining a QSO rate of about one per minute was easy.  I did not try to run a frequency at all here.

The scoring, combining all the entity and zone multipliers times QSO points really keeps you locked in too. At the start, it seems like it takes forever to reach 10,000 points, but your score increases exponentially as you continue.  With 452 multipliers as the contest was winding up, I was adding more than 1,300 points with every 3 point contact, which had me digging for every last Q I could find!

Overall, conditions were okay, but not great.  With the sunspot number in the mid 30s, 10 meters wasn't the contributor it has been in the last few years.  I'm sure hoping the sunspots kick back up for the ARRL 10 Meter contest in two weeks!

N3FJP Statistics

That early morning to early afternoon window, where you can just point your beam at Europe and work EU stations as fast as you can, was sure key here on both Saturday and Sunday!

Overall I worked 123 unique entities and 36 of the 40 CQ zones.
